Trail Head in the North Cascades -- We have a limited time so we headed for the closest, highest trailhead we could get to. We were staying in Sedro Woolley for the night before catching the ferry into the San Juan Islands.
The top of the trail was snow and much cooler -- really nice but the views were obscured by clouds.
More from the trail
You can see that we were certainly not the first on the trail but the road had on;y been open for three days when we drove into the trail head.
Marmot at the bend in the trail. They make a loud high pitched whistle that makes you look to the sky for a hawk or eagle.
Marmot guarding the trail.
Above the clouds -- beautiful.
