Koh Phi Phi

We took a long tail boat out to a ferry to Koh Phi Phi.  When we transfer out on a long tail we have to wade out into the surf carrying our baggage and throw it into the boat and climb in for the trip.  On Phi Phi we transferred from the ferry to our guest house on a long tail boat and waded ashore with our bags at the resort office.  Paradise Resort was really nice.  We started in a cabin off the beach but moved to a beach front cabin when one came available.  We loved Phi Phi.  No roads so we used a path into town through the jungle and along the beaches.  The massage tables at the resort were out along he beach and we made good use of them.  We had sling chairs on our deck and we carried them out to the beach and resumed our beach from reading and swimming routine walking to lunch and dinner.  Soon we were spending all day bare footed and happy.

We rented a long tail boat to take us snorkeling which was wonderful.  All the tropical fish were great and our driver Oh was really nice.

Rai Leh

We took a ferry from Koh Samui to Surat Thani where we got on a buss and crossed Thailand to the Andaman Sea side to Krabi where we took a long tail boat to Rai Leh.  Rai Leh has no roads so we walked trails and took boats to get around.  Also Rai Leh is a climbers destination because of the huge cliffs all over the place.  We rented a sea kayak and went out for the day.  Paddling and swimming around those cliffs was just wonderful.

These cliffs looked like they had melted - like stalagtites hanging on them.

With a place like this we stayed out all day -- about cooked in the tropical sun.

This is one place we stopped to swim because there is a small beach behind those two where the boat can be stashed -- we had a great time.

The climber's beach was one of our stops

If you look close there's a climber just over the trees on the cliffs.

We had lunch here one day -- pulled up in the sea kayak -- Great place sheltered by the huge cliffs overhang.
