We left Bangkok this morning very early and we are now in Darjeeling India. Drinking good tea and wearing fleece and down. What a change in a day from Bangkok to northeastern India. But the energy level in India is incredible and we were ready for a change of scenery and cuisine. And where else can we sit on a street corner and see things we've never seen in our lives. Then we get to discuss and speculate about all the unusual understood and misunderstood things around us. Great fun!
Traveling like this has made us realize that English is the international language. It is strange to hear a German (for instance) trying to speak clear English to an Indian, Thai, Nepali etc .. Just to be understood because if they use their own language no one will understand them but English is the common language at least in Asia. Somehow we didn't know that.
We will be going to Gangtok in Sikkim in a couple of days. It will be colder there but will be very scenic and interesting.
We want to extend the trip and see more of India and other countries around us, but we also want to see friends and family in the US. So we should be home in mid December.
Photos have been difficult to get up on the blog but I will try again soon. We miss seeing all of you.
Darryl & Susan
